| The New York Strauss Festival Orchestra | The Dance Orchestra NEW YORK |
In the past ten years, believe that I have found the optimum instrumentation for an elegant orchestra, and have converted my entire library to this instrumentation.Whether by making the musicians more comfortable, and their task more pleasant and interesting, or by orchestrating music which will sound well in our usual venues, all of these technical efforts are directed totally towards the ultimate pleasure of the listeners, dancers and musicians.
Each orchestration is danceable, and recalls the original music on which it is based. But none is quite the same as the original.
Because I really like the sound of a full string section, and I really like playing dance music, and I really like the process of orchestrating, music copying, and rehearsing, I have re-orchestrated for dancing not only the Strauss and Glenn Miller, but also the best of Lehar, Tchaikowsky, Xavier Cugat and many others - to be played with three woodwinds, two brass, three rhythm (piano/synthesizer, bass, drum), and a five-part string section (three violin parts, one viola part, and one cello part - each part to be played by several musicians). Harp, guitar, and vocalist are optional.
A synthesizer has been added, as has a trap-drummer - both unavailable in 1850. We have adjusted our repertoire for the ballroom dancers of today, and include Sambas, Fox-trots, Meringues, and Lindy's rather than Cotillions, Quadrilles and Mazurkas.
This library, listed below, is a large collection of music, all immediately available.
