Al Haig, pianist

Al Haig played piano with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, and was the first white bop pianist. He was a genius, but a very strange person.
I was his friend, piano tuner, and occasional sideman.
I am living in a house which I purchased from his lover, who(m?) I met at Al's funeral.

By the way, since you've found your way to this cyberpage, you'd also enjoy CRAZY RHYTHM, a new book by Leonard Garment, Nixon's attorney, who played saxophone with Al, as well as with Alan Greenspan, - both in Henry Jerome 's ill-fated Bebop-style Big Band (photos included). Alan Greenspan , as all you Al Haig fans know, is now the head of the Federal Reserve !

Anyway, AL HAIG was the pianist at Leonard Garment's wedding, and showed up late for the gig..

A friend of mine is writing a book about Al, and this is an invitation for you to contribute something which the author of the book may include.
i.e. You MAY get to see your name in print.

So, please e-mail your Al Haig story or comments to me, Bob January, from this page.

Please include your phone number, so the author may phone you.
Thank you for your input.
